The Professional Fighters League (PFL) has announced a strategic expansion of its partnership with Torneos and DIRECTV, securing its position as the exclusive media partner for the league’s content in Latin America. This extended collaboration ensures that live events and on-demand video content from both PFL and Bellator Champions Series will be accessible year-round to fans across Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay, and the Caribbean, excluding Brazil and Mexico.
The partnership encompasses exclusive rights to broadcast the 2024 PFL Global Regular Season, the Bellator Champions Series, and other PFL events including PFL Europe and PFL MENA, as well as access to all archival content from both PFL and Bellator. This content will be available on the ‘DSPORTS FIGHT’ channel, which is part of DIRECTV’s programming lineup (channels 615 and 1615 HD) and its streaming platform, DGO.
Peter Murray, CEO of PFL, expressed enthusiasm about the expanded partnership with Torneos and DIRECTV, emphasizing the league’s commitment to growing its global footprint and making PFL and Bellator content a staple for fight fans in Latin America through the dedicated DSPORTS FIGHT channel.
Santiago Sluzewski Monti, Regional Rights and Commercial Director of Torneos, shared his excitement about continuing the collaboration with PFL, bringing top-tier fighting events and content to Latin American audiences. Hernán Bidegain, director of Original Content and Programming at DSPORTS, highlighted the strategic alliance’s role in broadening the network’s combat sports offerings, which are gaining increasing popularity in the region.
Adding a local dimension to the PFL’s global reach, Argentine fighter Laureano “Pepi” Staropoli is set to compete in the Welterweight division during the PFL 2024 Global Season. Staropoli, who emerged victorious in his PFL debut at PFL Paris in September 2023, represents a significant figure for Latin American fans, further strengthening the connection between the league and its audience in the region.
The PFL is distinct in the world of MMA for its sports-season format, featuring a regular season, playoffs, and championship bouts each year. With 30% of its combined roster with Bellator independently ranked in the top 25 of their respective weight classes, the PFL matches the UFC in terms of elite talent.
