PFL vs. Bellator on Feb. 24, live from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will have an exclusive world title championship belt. It is specifically made for this event and even includes a ring. Peter Murray, PFL CEO, discusses what went into creating this belt and ring.

In a press conference with attending media, Peter Murray spoke to the guests, including Tim Wheaton of Calf Kick Sports. Feb. 24 is a once-in-a-lifetime event with a crossover of champions vs. champions between the PFL and Bellator. The PFL made a belt to accommodate such an important occasion. The PFL worked with the creator of the NFL Super Bowl ring to create such a piece of hardware.

PFL CEO Peter Murray explained:

“The world of sport, in terms of the fight, community, combat sports, obviously. Championship title belts are customary, so we’re continuing with that custom, but we have an added twist. I spent many years at the NFL where the NFL players their annual championship, the Super Bowl, right?

They get the Super Bowl ring. Well, we commissioned the NFL’s Super Bowl ring maker to make the first-ever combat sports champion of champions ring. So it’s the same jeweler as the, as the Super Bowl champions at the, at the NFL Wear. And we thought this event, which is our annual, think of it as an annual, PFL versus Bellator champs.

Think of it as the annual all-star game for the sport of MMA. And we thought it was appropriate to not only recognize these champions with a belt, but also befitting to have a custom ring made. And now these, these athletes were a fighter’s first organization at the PFL. This was all informed by, by fighters, their insights.

Admiring Super Bowl champions, their rings, and as they go out, you know, to dinners and to events and at times it’s hard to bring this piece of hardware everywhere you go. So now fighters can actually take a piece of the belt with them and carry it on their finger.”
