PFL vs. Bellator is set to go down live from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on February 24. It is a battle between the champions of Bellator and the Profesional Fighters League.
The top of the card is headlined by two title matches, and they will compete for a unified title. Despite it being a title match, it will only be three rounds of five minutes each. This will be hosted in an outdoor venue from the Kingdom Arena.
What are the rules for PFL vs. Bellator
PFL and Bellator differ on the rules of elbow to the head. For this event, elbows to the head will be allowed. For the rest of the event, it will be standard unified MMA rules.
Judges score each round using a 10-point must system, where the winner of the round receives 10 points and the loser receives 9 or fewer, depending on how the round was dominated. Unanimous, split, or majority decisions are possible outcomes based on the judges’ scores.
Judges look at the amount and significance of legal strikes and grappling maneuvers. This includes assessing the impact of attacks and control of the fight location.
While MMA allows strikes, grappling, and submissions, certain actions are illegal, such as head butts, eye gouging, groin attacks, and strikes to the back of the head or spine. Rules on elbow strikes, knee strikes, and kicks can vary, especially regarding a downed opponent. For this event, knees and kicks to a downed opponent is not allowed.
