Today, the Professional Fighters League (PFL) unveiled a significant media rights agreement with SuperSport, the predominant broadcast network across Sub-Saharan Africa. This deal encompasses the distribution of both PFL and Bellator events on SuperSport’s channels.
The collaboration initiated with an recent start, allowing fans in the region to experience the debut of the PFL Europe Season 2024 on March 7. This premiere event featured a headline bout between Cedric ‘The Best’ Doumbe and Baissangour ‘Baki’ Chamsoudinov at Paris’ Accor Arena.
SuperSport, known as Africa’s leading sports broadcaster, will host a comprehensive range of PFL events. This includes live broadcasts of PFL PPV Super Fights, PFL Europe, and the newly introduced PFL MENA, ensuring fans across Africa have access to top-tier MMA action.
In 2025, PFL is poised to introduce its third international league, PFL Africa, in collaboration with Francis Ngannou, dubbed the world’s most dominant combat sports figure and heavyweight champion. Ngannou will take on roles as both an equity holder and Chairman of PFL Africa, aiming to establish the league as the continent’s foremost MMA organization. PFL Africa plans to host events in major African countries during prime time to cater to the growing demand for high-quality MMA content, with more specifics to be disclosed later.
James Frewin, PFL’s Senior Vice President of International, expressed excitement about entering the Sub-Saharan African market, emphasizing its significance in PFL’s ongoing global growth strategy. The partnership with SuperSport is expected to provide year-round access to elite PFL and Bellator MMA programming to viewers throughout the region.
