Heading into his main event fight against bantamweight champion Patchy Mix, contender Magomed Magomedov is on the hunt for revenge. Back in 2022 at Bellator 289, Mix defeated Magomedov by guillotine choke, something that he’s also remembered ahead of their rematch at Bellator Champions Series in Paris.
Speaking to Calf Kick Sports ahead of the main event title fight against Mix, Magomedov explained why he’s on a revenge tour for this fight against the champion. While there’s certainly a desire to have Bellator gold wrapped around his waist, Magomedov is looking specifically to
get a win over Mix, and would love to do so by submission.
Knowing he can use lessons learned in their first fight, Magomedov has focused on correcting his previous mistakes to exact revenge on Mix
“That fight unfortunately did not go the way I expected, there was multiple mistakes made. I worked on that, I analyzed, I did some corrections and I expect to be a different person, a different tiger in the cage, you guys are going to see.”
As much as a title would mean to Magomedov, he made it clear that the priority for him is to avenge his loss to Mix and begin his revenge tour.
“For me the priority here is to beat him in the rematch, it’s not really as much about the title, obviously, he’s a great opponent, but for me it’s personal in this one, I want to make sure I get back at him.”
Not only does Magomedov want to get revenge with a victory and the title, but he also says he has a specific way in which he wants to win, by submission, just as Mix beat him in their first matchup.
“Obviously the main goal is to get the victory, but as you said, if I would be able to submit him one way or the other and finish him by submission, that would be the cherry on top. That would
be really amazing, but I don’t want to plan it like that. We are going to play it by ear when we get there.”
Revenge, a world title, and more revenge is on schedule for Magomed Magomedov, and if he can defeat Patchy Mix in the main event of Bellator Paris, he will cement himself among the best bantamweight fighters in the world, no matter the promotion.
