Charlie Leary is not just a UK MMA veteran, but a well-rounded veteran martial artist. With over 30 fights in his professional career, Leary will make the walk once again at PFL Newcastle when he takes on fellow veteran, Jack Grant.

At 41-years old, Leary is not contemplating retirement any time soon, after having limited opportunities to fight since 2020, which has seen him fight four times in the past four years.

In an interview with Calf Kick Sports, Leary discussed what he expects from Grant in their fight, which he believes will showcase “all-around martial arts” and a lot of blood.

“A lot of blood and a lot of all-around martial arts. With someone like Jack, it can go anywhere. We’re going to come in, we’re going to trade, we’ll probably end up grappling at some point but it’s going to be all action, there’s no two ways about it. You can’t have two guys like me and him in the cage and not have all that action.”

Having an opponent like Grant definitely excites Leary, not only because of their fighting styles but because they’ve always been around each other throughout their career. Despite having crossed paths in other organizations, this will be the first time they meet in their veteran careers.

“He’s tough, he’s been around almost as long as I have, he’s fought on pretty much all the same organizations I have, we’ve just never crossed paths before. He’s a tough, durable guy, really good ground game, it’ll be a real good, exciting fight, and that’s the sort of fights I want.”
