PFL Newcastle will serve as a spotlight stage for several fighters on the PFL Europe roster, but none may be able to match the entertainment level of Lewis McGrillen.
With 8 knockout/TKO finishes in as many fights at just 23-years old, McGrillen is appointment viewing whenever he steps inside the cage. Entertaining both in and out of the cage, McGrillen will take on Matiss Zaharovs and will be out for blood in their matchup.
In an interview with Calf Kick Sports, McGrillen discussed his fight against Zaharovs, how he was born to be a fighter, and why he values putting on entertaining shows when he’s inside the cage.
When it comes to himself and other younger fighters throughout the company, McGrillen says now is the time for fans to tune in, because the future has arrived.
“It’s cause we’re the future at the end of the day, people have seen the highlight reel of what I bring to the table. I have the punishment of God in these hands sometimes, and that’s what I’m bringing to the table. People like to see fights, people like to see knockouts, and I’m the guy that brings that, I’m the kid that brings that if you want to say it like that. I feel like the future is only bright for me.”
Having a bright future is certainly there for McGrillen, but he still maintains an approach of one fight at a time.
“I don’t really think too far ahead of trying to become a superstar, I’m just being me. I am who I am, when I fight, I’m fighting with bad intentions, I’m fighting with war, and the results come with how I am. Some people don’t like the way I am sometimes but I guarantee if you met me in person, you’d probably think I’m a cool guy. I’m just being unapologetically me.”
