In the middle of PFL MENA 2 fight week, the Professional Fighters League made another global groundbreaking announcement with the launch of PFL Africa set in the second quarter of 2025.

PFL Africa

After finding massive success with PFL Europe already and PFL MENA following, the third installment of the PFL’s International leagues has been prepared for launch. With their unique approach to MMA and their regular season format, the PFL continues to expand globally and create opportunities.

For those who are unfamiliar with the PFL and their regular season format on their Global league and International league, here’s a quick breakdown.

In the PFL global league, there are six divisions with two regular season matchups. Currently, women’s flyweight, men’s featherweight, lightweight, welterweight, light heavyweight, and heavyweight are the six divisions in the PFL Regular Season.

With the Regular Season comes the points system, which breaks down quite simply. Fighters are rewarded 3 points for winning their fight, then there is a possibility of winning bonus points. Fights won in the first round get an additional 3 points (6 total), second round wins get an additional 2 (5 total), and third round wins get an additional 1 (4 total) and those are added up through two matchups, with the top four point scorers make it to the playoffs.

In the Global league, the playoff contestants across the six divisions are each fighting for a PFL world title, $1 million in grand prize money, and undeniable stardom. There’s also the opportunity to be featured in future CHAMPS vs CHAMPS events which pits reigning PFL champions against reigning Bellator champions, further growing both brands and their talent worldwide.

The International leagues: PFL Europe, PFL MENA, and soon, PFL Africa serve as launching pads for the fighters who will partake. The main differences between the Global and International leagues is that in the international leagues, there is only one round of regular season matchups so points are not involved, and the rewards are different.

Winners in the International leagues get the respective International title (PFL Europe, PFL MENA, etc) their grand prize $100,000, and are given the opportunity to land a roster spot on the PFL Global league.

Now that PFL Africa is here, there is no better time than the present to focus on what PFL is doing as a whole. As their popularity, TV success, and recognition continues to grow in their Global league, their International leagues are the foundation for their future.

Finding talent in different parts of the world through their International leagues, the PFL affords the opportunity to grow and succeed at an early stage in their career. Not just winning a title and $100,000 but fighters also get the experience of what a PFL Regular Season and Playoff format is like, how to build up their brand as a fighter, and garner attention globally.

PFL Africa is not just another International league, it’s another part of the world where PFL will focus on finding undiscovered talent. Already targeting Europe, Middle East and North Africa, and now Africa as a whole, the company is going where there is talent to be found.

Having Francis Ngannou as Chairman of PFL Africa is another key, as the Cameroon native will know exactly what to look for. Providing a platform to fighters in Africa in which he has traveled himself to find stardom and success, there is no better person that PFL could have appointed to fill the role.

In 2025, the PFL will take yet another step forward not only in expansion, but in their pursuit of global success. Europe, MENA, and Africa, the PFL is going global, finding talent globally, and if their track record indicates anything, there are future stars sure to come out of PFL Africa.
