On Friday, August 30th, The United Fight League hosts their fifth event as aa promotion at the Wild Horse Pass Casino by Gila River Resorts in Chandler, Arizona. The card is loaded with former UFC and up and coming young talent, and to top it off the winning team from the main card will take home $50k split evenly amongst the fighters. This is how the teams are divided up:
Team Vegas – Coached by Frank Mir
- Vince Morales (15-7) – Bantamweight
- TJ Brown (18-11) – Featherweight
- Trent Miller (5-1) – Middleweight
- William Gibson (3-1) – Welterweight
- Anvar Boynazarov (5-3) – Bantamweight
Team Phoenix – Coached by Henry Cejudo
- Hunter Azure (11-3) – Bantamweight Champion
- Sheymon Moraes (15-6) – Featherweight
- Marcus Nash (1-0) – Middleweight
- Ray Waters (4-0) – Welterweight
- Jackson Santa Cruz (7-4) – Bantamweight
Points are awarded for the result of the fight it goes:
4 pts for first round finish (6 for main event)
3 pts for a second round finish (5 for main event)
2 pts for a third round finish (4 for main event)
1 pt for a decision win (3 for main event)
The card is set to kick off at 6pm Mountain Standard time, with the main card scheduled at roughly 8pm Mountain Standard time. The entire event can be watched for free on Rumble, Kick, and the United Fight League YouTube channel. Links will be updated around 5 pm.

Abijah “The Disciple” Meheula (4-3) defeats Chris Mims (2-7) by KO at 2:54 of round 1 – 155lb Bout
Abijah Meheula moves to 4-3 after defeating Chris Mims by overhand right in the first round, Mims drops his record to 2-7. Fantastic performance from Meheula, he really did it all in there and ended it suddenly with a massive shot.
Desmond Manabat (4-5) defeats Angel Atoigue by Unanimous decision (29-28 x3) – 145lb Bout
Desmond Manabat moves to 4-5 after defeating Angel Atoigue by unanimous decision, showcasing strong takedown defense, game striking, and some stellar spinning elbows. Atoigue drops to 2-1.
Yevgeni “The Terminator” Shinkarevsky (2-0) defeats Richard Mahan (2-1) – 125lb Bout
Yevgeni Shinkarevsky showcases all aspects of his game as he defeats Richard Mahan by unanimous decision. Shinkarevsky dropped him twice in the first round, and cruised throughout the rest of the fight. Mahan showcased excellent heart and a fantastic chin during this bout.
Main Card – Rumble – 8PM MST
Jackson “Jack Samurai” Santa Cruz (8-4) defeats Anvar “The Uzbek” Boynazarov (5-4) – 145 lb: Jackson scores 4 points for Phoenix
Jackson Santa Cruz wasted no time getting to the ground, scoring 2 takedowns against the Uzbekistani striker, and secured the rear naked choke finish to move to 8-4 and kick off the main card with a bang for team Phoenix.
Ray “All Day Sweet Baby” Waters (5-0) defeats William “Iron” Gibson (3-2) by unanimous decision – 170 lb Waters scores 1 point for Phoenix
Waters relied primarily on his lowkicks and striking at range in the first round, and then went heavy into his wrestling in the second two rounds, winning the dominant decision over Gibson.
Trent Miller (6-1) defeats Marcus Nash by KO (straight right) at 3:00 of round 1 – 185lb: Miller scores 4 points for Vegas
Marcus Nash started the fight with all the fury, but late into round one got overzealous with his pressure and ran onto a beautiful counter right hand from Miller that ended his night early. Trent Miller moves to 6-1 with all finishes in his career.
Co-Main Event:
Sheymon Moraes (16-6) defeats “Downtown” TJ Brown (18-12) by unanimous decision (29-28 x 2 29-27)- 145lb: Moraes scores 1 point for Phoenix
In an absolute war, Sheymon Moraes came out on top after a rough start to the fight. TJ Brown had his way early in the fight with his grappling, but Sheymon came back with excellent striking and aggressiveness, stuffing takedowns and hurting brown en route to a unanimous decision.
Main Event: UFL Bantamweight Title
Vince Morales (16-7) defeats Hunter Azure by submission in round 3 (Japanese Necktie) – 135lb: Morales wins the bantamweight title and secures $50k for team Vegas as they win the card 8-6.
A back and fourth battle that saw Azure winning in the striking exchanges ended up coming down to the ground game. Morales was relentless with his takedown attempts and submissions, eventually transitioning from a d’arce to a Japanese necktie to secure the finish in the main event.
